HealthWise
Healthy Ageing Snapshot

A geriatric-style check-up in your living room

A home screening anchored by a 1- or 5-minute rest ECG across cardiovascular signals, functional reserve, activity capacity, voice-led risk factors, personal baselines, and clear multilingual explanations.

Not a medical device. HealthWise is a pre-screening aid, not a diagnosis. It complements clinical care by flagging changes worth discussing with a clinician. If you have chest pain right now, call your local emergency number.

See it in action

A product-led, pilot-ready Remotion walkthrough showing the full home check-up loop, review-ready reports, and short feature previews.

Sample assessment reports

Review two full PDFs generated from one simulated Guided Assessment: a caregiver/patient report and a clinician report. The data is simulated for judge review and is not a diagnosis or a real patient record.

Caregiver/patient report

Plain-language report focused on what changed, what to review with care, and what to discuss with a clinician.

Open caregiver report

Clinician report

Structured report with provenance, rest ECG/HRV values, voice-risk scoring, DASI, Functional Test, and limitations.

Open clinician report

The simulated case uses existing HealthWise scoring paths for rest ECG/HRV context, voice risk questions, DASI, and the 30-second chair stand.

What’s inside

Eight modules across cardiovascular signals, functional reserve, voice-led screening, personal baseline trends, and offline demo clips.

Guided Assessment

One guided home session links setup, a selectable 1- or 5-minute resting ECG with live vitals and a rolling trace, voice-led context, DASI, Functional Test, a visual report explorer, and separate user and clinician reports. With consent, the rest ECG can run through ecg_algo; an optional AI summary explains compact findings in plain language.

ECG Analysis

Record a 60-second Polar ECG clip with a 2-second pre-roll, save it locally, and send it through the Rust proxy to ecg_algo for beat, rhythm, event, HRV, and signal-quality analysis when you start the workflow.

Voice Assessment

A conversational screen for symptoms, risk factors, and everyday function. It follows the app language switch across English, Singapore Hokkien Simplified Chinese, Malay, and Tamil; MERaLiON is preferred for Hokkien speech-to-text, OpenAI remains available for transcription, and System or ElevenLabs voice output can read prompts aloud.

Activity Capacity (DASI)

The Duke Activity Status Index — 12 questions estimating peak VO₂ and METs from daily activities such as walking, climbing stairs, housework, and recreation.

30s Chair Stand

A guided 30-second chair stand test that approximates lower-body strength, functional reserve, and fall-risk signals. Reps count automatically from a connected Polar strap — or tap to count.

Cloud Trends

Overnight HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, and fitness history synced from your Polar account to contextualize recovery and physiological reserve.

History & Trends

Every completed session is saved to an append-only store on your Mac and charted over time — chair-stand reps, METs, and resting heart rate — so meaningful deviation from your own baseline is easier to spot.

Demo Clips

Demo Clips pairs eight labelled clinical ECG examples with real PhysioNet ECG windows for guided walkthroughs: normal rhythm reference from MIT-BIH NSRDB, source beat annotations from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia, and healthy ageing HRV comparison from Fantasia. HealthWise shows source annotations and RR/HRV context; it does not diagnose.

Installing

Signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so macOS can open it from Applications after the usual first-launch confirmation.

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag HealthWise to Applications.
  2. Launch HealthWise from Applications.
  3. Allow Bluetooth access when macOS asks, to connect a Polar chest strap.
Then wear a Polar chest strap for ECG Analysis, or use the voice-led questionnaire and chair-stand function tests with no hardware at all.

What’s new for the ageing snapshot

Recent releases that move HealthWise toward explainable, multidomain home screening.

v0.10.0 — Guided assessment concierge

  • An optional local concierge now guides setup, Rest ECG, Voice Context, DASI, Functional Test, and Visual Report as one continuous assessment.
  • HealthWise remains in control: capture, skip, movement testing, and PDF export require confirmation, while urgent safety states block movement actions.
  • DASI is now a canonical step, and localized guidance, report terminology, and the optional ElevenLabs handoff all follow the assessment's actual current step.
  • The concierge uses compact session context only; raw ECG, audio, voice quotes, and per-beat records remain outside its snapshot and audit history.

v0.4.0 — Talks and reports

  • Conversational screening: the voice assessment as a free-flowing AI interview (MERaLiON, OpenAI, or a local exo server), scored on the same fixed items.
  • PDF report export for the Guided Assessment and the voice screening, quoting your spoken answers verbatim.

v0.3.0 — Counts itself

  • Automatic chair-stand rep counting from the Polar strap’s accelerometer, calibrated on real labelled trials — tap counting stays as the fallback.
  • macOS Bluetooth fix: sensor scans no longer terminate the app.
  • H10-tuned 50 Hz accelerometer streaming.
